NokNok Is Launching Food Delivery In Lebanon
NokNok, the platform best known for its very quick delivery of convenience store products, is expanding into a new space this month: food delivery.
The service will roll out within the same app, giving users the option to order meals from restaurants in addition to everyday essentials.
NokNok was recently acquired by Grey Mackenzie Retail Lebanon, the parent company of Spinneys, Happy, Coldstone, and other brands. With that backing, the company is now gearing up to challenge Lebanon’s food delivery market.
Toters has long dominated food delivery in Lebanon since Zomato’s closure. However, restaurants have been complaining about high commissions, drivers over low payouts (~42,000LL base per delivery, and users over very poor customer service.
Drivers had protested working conditions and poor wages multiple times. One that even saw a violent crackdown, which Toter’s security confirmed to us, they were instructed to “end the protest.”
This created a need for new competitors.
According to 961 info, NokNok will be offering restaurants slightly lower commission fees than Toters, giving outlets some breathing room.
NokNok may not be the only new player in the market. An international food delivery company confirmed to 961 that it is studying a Lebanon launch as well.
With new competition entering the scene, restaurants could see fairer terms, drivers could push for better pay, and users may finally get a smoother experience.
