US skips UN Nakba event marking dispossession of Palestinians after Israeli campaign

The event, the first of its kind to be held by the UN, commemorated the Nakba or “catastrophe” — when roughly 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled from their homes in what is now Israel.
