Parliament approves cash cards amid ‘social explosion’ fears

Parliament approved Wednesday cash payments in millions of dollars for poor families as Lebanon sank deeper into political and economic turmoil with no end in sight to the stalemate that for more than 10 months has left the country without a fully functioning government to cope with multiple crises, including an unprecedented financial downturn.
