Cabinet impasse defies mediation efforts, foreign pressure

A series of local and regional mediation efforts, coupled with mounting US and French pressure, have so far failed to nudge top leaders into agreeing on a the formation of a new government eagerly awaited by the Lebanese to save them from the worst economic and financial crisis in the country’s history.
